FREE TravelWise and Cycling Roadshows

THERE’S a tasty treat in store for potential pedal pushers this summer as the county council’s TravelWise team takes to the road.

As part of the push to promote public transport, cycling and walking, Lancashire County Council is calling on anyone with an interest in reducing their carbon emissions to visit one of their roadshow events.Local children making a smoothie on a bike!

And, as well as the usual information leaflets and free advice visitors could also whip up their own fruit smoothie by bike!

Other exciting and informative features coming to a town near you soon include:

  • A virtual reality cycling “computrainer” - ride a perfect simulation of cycling. You can either race against time or just amble along with many courses available from 500m to 50km!
  • Free timetable information for public transport and expert advice on planning your journey.
  • Information on cycle routes in your area, cycle clubs, and how to start cycling with advice from our cycle experts.
  • WIN, WIN, WIN!  Free prize draw to win vouchers for local cycle shops

County Councillor Matthew Tomlinson, cabinet member for environment and transportation, said:

“These roadshow events are an excellent chance for members of the public to gather information and advice from local experts and decide on the best form of healthy, sustainable transport for them.

“With concerns about climate change and the impact of carbon emissions, now is a great time to look into your transport options, and you may also find yourself saving money, enjoying safer, stress-free journeys, getting healthier and much more.

“It doesn’t have to be a major lifestyle change, even small changes to your routine such as walking to the local shops, or catching the bus occasionally to work can make a difference.

“Don’t forget, walking and cycling are some of the best forms of exercise and a good way of getting the 30 minutes of moderate exercise a day that health experts recommend.”
