The SUCCESS project (part of the CIVITAS initiative) will demonstrate what can be achieved through a concerted programme of actions in urban transport. The sites are the cities of Preston (UK), La Rochelle (France) and Ploiesti (Romania). Demonstration projects will include alternative fuels, air quality assessment, integrated pricing strategies, stimulation of public transport, car sharing, freight, innovative soft methods and telematics.

This project will study the transport problems faced by Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust in Preston and Chorley. It will look at how effective marketing of personalised patient travel plans could change travel behaviour to the hospital sites.
After initial research the outcomes of the project will be improved public transport information and greater integrated travel planning - particularly as the National Health Service moves towards Electronic Patient Records and increased patient choice.
