What are people saying about WYLDEFYRE:

Doug Soper, Chief Executive of Wyre Primary Care Trust says:

“WYLDEFYRE is an important part of our drive to improve the health of our local communities. We have found that our patients, no matter what their age or background, need safe and effective transport to appointments at their health centre or hospital. Wyre Primary Care Trust is supporting this 'transport for health' project because it shows, in practice, our wholehearted commitment to ensuring fair access to health care."

Working mum, Karene Baird, 31, and her 9 month old son Daniel McGowan from Great Eccleston, are keen users of the WYLDEFYRE service. “The staff were really good and I was dropped off in plenty of time for my appointment. The bus is inexpensive helping to make the family budget go further.” Karene is a nurse at Blackpool’s Victoria Hospital, but since the birth of baby Daniel she has worked reduced hours and has used WYLDEFYRE to attend clinics with GPs and midwives at local health centres. “There was no problem with the pushchair. I’d been a bit worried about it all but the drivers were great. I had assumed that it wasn’t for my age group - but I was wrong. The buses and staff are geared up to help parents with pushchairs so there’s no need to worry. Its such a friendly service. I’d encourage people to phone up and try the service. It really takes the stress out of visits to clinics and the health centre.”

It is funded by Lancashire County Council, the Countryside Agency and Wyre Primary Care NHS Trust.
